El Mozambique, también llamado Chango, se encuentra casi confinado a las Antillas, en donde se puede ver dentro de las 4 islas más grandes: Cuba, Jamaica, Hispanilla y Puerto Rico, aunque se puede encontrar también en las Islas Caimán. 7 sub-especies se pueden reconocer dentro de su rango, y algunas de ellas muy restringidas a pequeñas islas; entre ellas varían típicamente en los colores, tonos y brillo del plumaje.

Busca alimento en el suelo, principalmente semillas e insectos, aunque también puede alimentarse de una gran variedad de otras presas, como lagartijas, e incluso heces humanas.

Comportamiento
Estos son aves ruidosas y atrevidas, que se sienten en confianza cerca de humanos y muy “como en casa” en lugares intervenidos. El Mozambique, a veces, forma grandes grupos para descansar.

Tamaño y Apariencia
Tiene la cola con forma de quilla, la cual es ligeramente más larga en la hembra, y que probablemente ellos usan como timón durante el vuelo.
