Funky Nests in Funky Places is Back!

You find them in hanging flower baskets… an old boot… a garage shelf… or under a bridge… Birds build nests in the strangest places!

For the Funky Nests in Funky Places challenge, we want you to take photos, do a painting or write a story showing a bird’s nest built in some out-of-the-way or out-of-this-world place.

This year the contest will take place on our FaceBook page:

https://www.facebook.com/CelebrateBirds/

3 winners in 4 categories!

Contest will run until July 1, 2016.

A committee of Lab staff will select winners based on many different criteria. Mainly we are looking for great stories in each of the four categories: Funkiest, Cutest, Most Inconvenient, and Funniest. We are not looking for fabulous photography –but instead interesting stories of discovery.

So get your cameras out and shoot a photo that highlights birds nests in the strangest places! We run this “challenge” as an educational component of our Celebrate Urban Birds project to encourage folks to get to know birds. We don’t do it to get fabulous photos, but we do get wonderful photos and beautiful stories in the process. We use these photos for educational purposes.

The challenge attempts to get people outside watching the world around them. Learning from others, discovering nature, and falling in love with birds!
All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them.

When observing nests please be sure to avoid touching them or disturbing the birds.
